We have a lot of specific workloads in our business, from large format flatbed work, roll to roll work, small format work coming off our Konica device. And each of them needs different sheet sizes or role sizes. We have a lot of specific requirements around corrugates, to deal with fluid direction. So it’s not just a matter of imposition.
It’s what’s that fluid direction for each piece? So there was some setup there, but, in terms of once we actually gave Ultimate the go, getting up and running was very, very quick. A lot of the settings and features in the back end are toggle switches. So it’s a matter of just, finding the workflow that you want.
I think Ultimate Impostrip was one of the, easiest ROI’s of a lot of our software. Reason being is today, everyone wants everything shipped immediately or as quick as possible. And we found that we can get orders at 4:00 in the morning. It can be in position and ready for our production team by the time they come in at 7:00.
Previously, that was a manual process. And you, just the time you lose there, was impacting your business. Customers are going to look at imposition as something that has to be done on the job. You know, when we’re pricing them out. We, you know, in our ERP system, we know we got to account for that time.
But, especially on the load, the smaller jobs you can’t really make, you can’t make money on, on imposition. So it’s critical to have, the imposition done correctly. It also saves us a lot on material costs and cost by making sure we’re maximizing the sheet, reducing our waste. We even do items like waste cuts to make sure, waste disposal is easier, but there’s a lot involved in imposition that I think, at first glance, you don’t realize.
So we do use, Significans automation. They manage our automation side of Enfocus. However, up until now, Ultimate kind of runs in a silo in itself. It is built in their software, but, it hasn’t needed much. You know, too much touching. It just. It works. Well. The Ultimate is, it’s a core part of our business, right now.
And, I don’t see us changing that. It’s work that, like I said, it keeps, projects going quickly, but also it’s not a task that too many of our employees were very excited to do manual imposition. So it’s great to have.
